Sustainability always means future viability, and future viability requires transformation. However, transformation does not happen at the push of a button, but it is a continuous process. “If we improve poorer companies, more is achieved than if we optimise good ones,” says Dijana Lind, ESG Analyst at Union Investment. This is worthwhile in terms of earnings as well as climate protection. This is implemented via a transformation ranking. Close contact with the companies and years of commitment help in the evaluation. “We need qualitative judgements, and for this we ask the right questions in a dialogue,” says Lind.
