Shiva Dustdar is a senior international finance executive and educator with over 30 years of experience across public and private financial institutions, working at the intersection of finance, innovation, and societal impact. She currently serves as Director for EIB Group Relations with Luxembourg at the European Investment Bank (EIB) and previously as Director and Head of the EIB Institute, where she led its strategic transformation to strengthen the EIB Group’s thought leadership and public value mission through philanthropic, academic, social, and cultural initiatives supporting climate, innovation, and development priorities.
Since joining the EIB in 2003, Shiva has held senior roles across risk management, lending, investing, and advisory, with a strong focus on financing innovative and high‑risk projects. She played a central role in building the EIB’s Innovation/ Corporate Finance Advisory, establishing a successful partnership with the European Commission that helped mobilise billions in financing for innovative companies supporting the green and digital transitions.
Earlier in her career, she worked in Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan in New York and emerging markets, before joining Fitch Ratings in London, where she founded and led the European High Yield Ratings business. Shiva holds a BA in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from Columbia University and an Executive MBA from London Business School. She is a regular speaker and guest lecturer on innovation finance, mission‑oriented finance, climate and digital investment, and gender‑smart investing.
